Well, no, their reliability has been less than acquitted especially within the year range you are considering. They have had inherent engine and transmission problems. Do not buy into a money pit.

They're good, as long as they're taken care of.
The crankwalk problem is usually a 6bolt 4G63 (1st gen) motor problem, not a 420A (2nd gen).

They have there problems but so do other cars. You also got to look into what version the eclipse is. As in order from basic to performance wise will be rs, gs, gst, and gsx. The rs and gs come with different engines than the gst and gsx. If you plan on getting something more reliable it would be rs and gs. The gst and gsx tend to have crankwalk which would then need a rebuild or dropping a new engine in by the time its 150k miles in. It would just all vary from the previous owners like taking car of the car. Keeping up with maintance. So if you plan on getting one know what your getting yourself into. These cars are DSM and cost a lot of money for repairs.
