could a DSM turbo Fwd MANUAL trans be flipped around & used in a rwd configuration?

my understanding of the DSM 2.0 Turbo FWD transmissions can handle 500-600hp as long as torque numbers stay at or below 450 & that peak isnt hit all the time, so my question is this:

could a DSM 2.0 Turbo FWD MANUAL transmission be flipped around & used in a rwd configuration?

& if so, what kind of effect would this have on the differential & is there anything that could be done to it to make this happen?

ALSO--im not asking about practicality, im talking about how and why or why not considering these transmissions most likely only put out power to 1 wheel usually & a lot of the power will usually be lost in wheelspin.

No. A trans can only be bolted on one way as far as I know. This would take massive amounts of custom work for something pretty damn pointless.

Chrysler Conquest/Mitsubishi Starion transmission should bolt up, but I'm not 100% sure.

If the DSM is a 1990-1994, then you would need and AWD shell. If it's a 1995-1999 DSM, it's more possible since it's running the same chassis between the FWD turbo and AWD turbo.

Basically, if you were to do the swap and all of the configuration, well, I'm not sure. But I can bet money that he knows just how to do it.

The rear differential is pretty rugged, but the components to watch out for would the axles in back. If they're a three bolt configuration, they would probably not last long. Swapping to four bolt axles would do much better. The axles are bigger and stronger, let alone the four bolt cups are even better.

Also check out MAP's FDSM. An FD RX-7 with a DSM swapped into it. They could also hint onto unanswered questions.

It would have to sit facing the same way to have it drive forward. If it was flipped the other way it would have a lot of speed backwards and one gear forward. It could be done though and would look like a Pontiac Fiero after it was done. Hope I have been helpful.

I'd get a conquest tranny it's ALREADY RWD and can easily support the same HP numbers
